It was announced in February 2023 that City had been charged with 115 separate alleged breaches of the Premier League's Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations dating back to 2009 and running until 2018. City strongly deny the charges. "Manchester City FC is surprised by the issuing of these alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules, particularly given the extensive engagement and vast amount of detailed materials that the EPL has been provided with," the club said in a statement when the chargers were announced last year.
